December 28, 2020 Website Fundraiser I know times are tough, but I need to raise $400 to secure web hosting for Webadelica as well as my tohereknowswhen/Come in alone (my bloody valentine) for the next 3 or is it 4 years, I forget, by January 31, 2021. I've only asked asked for help once before in 20+ years of running these sites. Mani Mounfield was kind enough to donate $100 at that time! Any amount will be appreciated as it adds up. I will stop the fundraising once I hit the the target. Here is the link to DONATE. Many thanks! UPDATE: It won, You can Pre-order up to February 17th. Rough Trade UK will get copies. PRE-ORDER HERE November 11, 2020 Vote for The Original Memphis Recordings on vinyl The good folks at Run Out Groove Records are planning on releaseing this on 3LP! This is a US only release. I'm sure some will end up in the UK. VOTE HERE UPDATE: It won, You can Pre-order up to February 17th. Rough Trade UK will get copies. PREZORDER HERE June 5, 2020 Bobby and son, Lux cover Jesus Bobby and his son, Lux, recorded a cover of the scream's 'Jesus' for fashion label Celine of Paris France. Check it out here March 23, 2020 New album this year? Last year while the site was down briefly, Bobby said they had a new album done and would it be released this year. Only time will tell! He also mentioned a possible US tour in 2021. Fingers crossed! More old news Last July the scream re-released 'Velocity Girl' again with a brand new b-side called 'Broken'. Released as 7" only. Initial copies were signed. I'm sure you can still find them out and about February 17, 2020 RIP Audio Alchemist Andrew Weatherall (Picture sourced/Courtesy from the official Primal Scream instagram account) Audio Alchemist Andrew Weatherall has passed away. RIP to The Guvnor December 17, 2019 Jim Beattie rejoins the Scream at Glasgow Barrowland The Scream treated fans to an early Christmas present at Glasgow Barrowland on December 17th in Glasglow when Jim Beattie rejoined the Scream, albeit for just one night. He played on Velocity Girl and Imperial. He then joined the band again during the encore of Jailbird and Rocks. Here are some picture coutesy of Kyle MacLean. Some video footage does on appear online if you know where to look. September 2019 Site back up! As you may have noticed the site was gone for a bit. I forgot to renew the domain as well as my back up domain. I had assumed I lost them to the Domain resaller scum, but alas, I didn't. In case you didn't notice, the domeain is now theprimalscream.org and no longer theprimalscream.net. The reason for this change is because, when I lost theprimalscreamscream.com last year or so, I scrambled to get a new domain and not thinking clearly picked up theprimalscream.net, but what I had relized at the time was that it was too close to the band's official site, primalscream.net. Apologies guys! So I still need to getthe seldom used forum back up, even though Fakebook has basically made band forums ghost towns. I do run a Fakebook Scream page. In the meawhile, while the site was absent, the Scream released Velocity Girl 7" with a new song called 'Broken'. Some copies where signed by Bobby, which you ay still be able to find around. I hope you catch up on stuff soon, stay tuned! August 20, 2018 New Singles best of to be released The Scream are releasing a new single best of called "MAXIMUM ROCK 'N' ROLLTHE SINGLES" on May 24th. BBC Interview with Bobby Bobby recently appeared on the BBC for an Interview. You must buy and pre-register for this event. WEBADELICA IS 20 YEARS OLD! I created the site 20 years ago this month because Primal Scream information was scarce in the early days of the internet and there was such mystery surrounding the band, which is still the case in a lot of ways. There have been a couple other "fan" sites that have come and gone, but Webadelica was the first and obviously last standing. My claim to fame was I was asked at one point to speak once in the UK about the design of the site around the time of XTRMNTR, at a design school I believe, my memory is failing me at the moment. Thank you so much for the postive feedback and support over the years and massive thanks to the the band themselves. I created a Discussion group on FACEBOOK, for those of you who don't like forums. Also be sure to follow @PrimalScreamNews on Twitter an extension of Webadelica, run faithy by long time screamer, Ajay. Domain name issue I lost theprimalscream.Com domain due to my provider screwing me over. I hope I can get it back when it comes back on the market. In the meanwhile, this is the new domain!. I now know the issue with the forum and will get that back up very shortly. Thanks for your patience! Since its release in September 1991, the inaugural Mercury Prize winning record has influenced countless bands and artists, been widely acclaimed by critics as one of the defining records of the 1990s and as one of the most inventive albums of its generation- the album had a huge effect on '90s popular culture, bringing acid house and rock 'n' roll to a unified mainstream audience that had until that point been disparate and underground. The 'Screamadelica' four CD bookset includes a 20 page booklet which features content from the deluxe 20th anniversary set released in 2011. It includes beautiful photography from Grant Fleming and Kevin Westerberg along with insightful interviews with Bobby Gillespie, Andrew Innes and Andrew Weatherall about the making of this legendary album. The new release includes audio which was previously unavailable, except in the limited edition boxset in 2011. A vinyl version of the 20th anniversary album will also be released on 2 LPs presented in beautiful gatefold packaging with colour photography inside and the iconic cover on the front CD1: RE-MASTERED ALBUM (RE-MASTERED BY PRIMAL SCREAM & KEVIN SHIELDS) 1. February 15, 2013 The Scream to release new single The Scream will release the song '2013' on February 25th. It will be download only. The song was intially called '2012' and has been a staple of current live dates. The Scream are now signed to First International records in the UK, presumably The Scream's own label. The label name may refer to "First International, a left-wing working class movement that also incorporated socialist, anarchist and trade union groups". The song will be premeired on February 18th the Lauren Laverne show. Bobby said the other week on her show that they'd air it twice, all 9 minutes of it. 3 new videos The Scream have been making 3 new videos with Douglas Hart. You can see still over on their new Tumbler page. January 17, 2013 The Scream to give us 'More Light' on May 6th David Holmes recently posted on Twitter, that the new album is "is sequenced and mastered" and will indeed be released in May. It is suspected that the first single from the album will be, 'It's Alright, it's OK' which the band have been playing live already. 'More Light' is famously the last words of the German poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Fans suspect this is where the name comes from. January 6, 2013 New album update The album is due out in May of this year. It will be a double album, the Scream's first. It features special guest apperances from Robert Plant and Mark Stewart This is from the current issue of Uncut: "Sometimes we do two-guitars-bass-drums, like a rock'n'roll standard thing. Other times there are a lot of different sounds and instruments. It's kind of symphonic or orchestrated in that sense and pretty sophisticated in places. It's more psychedelic and out-there. We're playing with arrangements and doing unusual things with time signatures. Robert Plant sings on 'Elimination Blues' with me. It was originally going to be called 'Holy Ghost On Fire' or 'Reality Blues'. That turned out really beautifully and is the kind of song you wouldn't expect him to sing on. It's not a hard rock tune, it's a kind of swampy, sexy fuckin' groove. It's almost European blues, very hypnotic. Mark Stewart sings on the chorus of a song called 'Cultureside'. That's a real hard-funk urban thing. It's a Temptations-like, Primal Scream funk song. I've known Mark for 20 years. He's a brilliant guy and his voice is unmistakable. He's one of my favourite singers. (Producer) David Holmes encouraged us to go weird and to stretch things. Whenever we became excessive, he would love it. He hooked us up with some great musicians in LA too, like Davey (Jude Jolicoeur) who plays percussion with De La Soul. And we got Jason Falkner playing bass on a lot of the album. The whole thing is just a really great piece of music." Here is what Andrew Innes said about the new album during an interview during the recent Austrailian tour tour: It's a very, very good Primal Scream LP. It's got great words, great lyrics, great melodies, and great rhythms. It feels like this is a good one. It's everything you'd want from a Primal Scream LP. It's got jazz, punk, funk, rock ‘n' roll, horns, strings, loud guitars, quiet guitars – it's a Primal Scream record and I think it's one of the better ones. Here is the full interview which is a very good read Here are some other recent interviews with Bobby: Interview 1 Interview 2 NEWS ARCHIVES COMING BACK SHORTLY |
