Primal Scream played Creamfields on May 2nd. Here's a report from Public NME 16 May 1998.

And finally, the year's first festival was tragically turned from a happy-happy-joy-joy event drawing together one nation under THE BLOKE FROM LES RYTHMES DIGITALES' luminous red hairdo (a shade so bright that no-one realised the sun had set until 2am) into a heartless fish massacre. Apparently, PRIMAL SCREAM were running around the backstage area of Creamfields playing with some fun new catapults and steel ball bearings that they'd been given by a fan when they spotted a large tank full of tropical fish in one of the hospitality tents. They immediately set about seeing who could catapult the most fish, forgetting that glass, being quite brittle stuff, tends to smash when peppered with large chunks of metal at high speeds. Cue a stream-full of very expensive fish suddenly being expected to evolve very quickly indeed. Ciao for now...
